St Mewan Nursery 2023-2024

Welcome to our Nursery information homepage. At St Mewan Nursery, we are very lucky to have a highly qualified and experienced staff team, who are dedicated to caring and supporting children at all stages of their learning and development. We provide sessions for children from the age of 3 until they are ready to start school.

If your child is due to start in Reception in September 2024 or before and you would like to speak to someone, please feel free to telephone the main school on 01726 74887 and ask to speak to a member of the senior leadership team.

Alternatively, if you would like to arrange a visit to the school to see the Nursery setting and wider school please call and ask the office to arrange a call back from Mrs Walker, the deputy head reponsible for the Nursery, who will arrange a convenient time to show you around.

If you are looking to send your nursery-aged pupil to us in the future, please either email us on [email protected] or fill out the forms below to be added to the pre-admission list so that we can keep you updated with useful information over the coming months.

We offer ‘30 hours free childcare’ Early Year’s funding to those eligible.  Further information and help with this is available, if needed, please email [email protected] with your details.

Our Nursery sessions will run from 9.00am – 12.00pm and 12.00pm – 3.00pm on term time days.

There is also our Nursery Wraparound service available, which starts at 7.30am and finishes at 5.30pm - funded hours can be used for this so please contact [email protected] for further details.

School dinners are available daily, subject to prior ordering and payment at the cost of £2.65 and can be booked and paid for on School Gateway.

We aim to provide a calm, caring and supportive environment with varied fun and exciting activities, carefully planned to follow each individual child’s interests and encourage the learning of key foundational skills for future life and learning. Making new friends, building confidence to have a go and trying new things are all a major part of a child settling and enjoying their time with us.

We follow the Early Year’s Foundation Stage framework and statutory requirements. Being a part of an Early Year’s Foundation Stage unit means that children become accustomed to the building and staff that work together within the unit making transitions to their St Mewan Reception class a very calm and smooth process.

Applications for a Reception class place must be made via the Cornwall Council school admissions process and we need to point out that there is no guarantee that attending our Nursery will result in your child/children being granted a place at St Mewan. The school admissions system runs independently of schools and we have no say or control over any part of this.
